Our next meeting will be Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Whitestown Town Hall.  We will be working on putting all of our areas together into a comprehensive plan so that we can present the plan to the public in September.  We look forward to seeing you there.

July 21, 2011 Committee Meeting

Our last meeting had to be postponed but we will be meeting again Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Whitestown Town Hall to discuss our remaining topics and to set the plans for presenting our ideas to the public.  We look forward to seeing you there.

June 16, 2011 Committee Meeting

At our last meeting we reviewed the outlines for Planning and Zoning and Public Safety.  Our next meeting will be Thursday, June 16, 2011.  We plan to review the outlines for Government and Finance and Civic and Social Services.  We would like to see you at the meeting.

The Next Step

With discussions on planning and zoning at our last meeting on April 21, 2011, we have finished the first stage of gathering information for planning the Worth Township-Whitestown Reorganization.  The next step is to begin putting together the plan as to how the two governments can best work together to serve all residents.

Our next meeting will be this Thursday, June 2, 2011.  We will begin reviewing outlines for each section of the reorganization plan.  We hope to see you there.

April 7, 2011 Committee Meeting

The Reorganization Committee met at the Whitestown Town Hall, 6320 S. Cozy Lane to continue our discussion on Roads and Transportation and to discuss Utilities and Public Works and Civic and Social Services.

We received a presentation from Sue Ritz of the Boone Area Transit System regarding the transportation services the agency provides.  Jason Lawson of Whitestown Utilities informed us of the role and usage of utilities within Whitestown.  Finally, Paul Carpenter-Wilson led discussion of the civic and social services available through Worth Township and through Whitestown.

The next meeting will be April 21, 2011 at the Whitestown Town Hall, 6320 S. Cozy Lane.  The discussion will pertain to Planning and Zoning.  This will be the last of our information gathering sessions.  In May, we intend to begin discussing and building the different sections of the reorganization plan.

March 17, 2011 Committee Meeting

The Reorganization Committee met at the Whitestown Town Hall, 6320 S. Cozy Lane to discuss Roads and Transportation.

We received presentations from Tom Kouns of the Boone County Highway Department regarding the costs and responsibilities of the Highway Department.  There was also discussion with Dawn Semmler of the Whitestown Town Council about the responsibilities of the Whitestown Street Department.

The next meeting will be April 7, 2011 at the Whitestown Town Hall, 6320 S. Cozy Lane.  We will continue our discussion on Roads and Transportation and will also discuss Utilities and Public Works as well as Civic and Social Services.

February 17, 2011 Committee Meeting

The Reorganization Committee met at the Whitestown Town Hall, 6320 S. Cozy Lane.

We received a presentation from Gene Thompson of the Communities of Zionsville Area for Better Government Initiative explaining to us the discussions and processes followed by Eagle Township, Union Township, and Zionsville in their reorganization efforts.  We also received information regarding the finances of Whitestown from Town Manager Tom Combiths and Town Clerk Debra Zachelmeyer.

We have formed six subcommittees (Government Organization and Finance, Utilities and Public Works, Public Safety, Planning and Zoning, Roads and Transportation, and Civic and Social Services).  If you are interested in serving on a subcommittee, please send a message to wtwtreorg@gmail.com.  We have also added the meeting recordings to the website.

We had some good public discussion at this meeting and would like to have the same in our future meetings.  The next meeting will be March 3, 2011 at the Whitestown Town Hall, 6320 S. Cozy Lane.  We will be discussing issues pertaining to Planning and Zoning.

February 3, 2011 Committee Meeting

The Reorganization Committee met at the Whitestown Town Hall, 6320 S. Cozy Lane.

We discussed the current responsibilities and the possible effects of a reorganization with Sheriff Ken Campbell and Chief Deputy Major Mike Nielsen of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and with Chief Dennis Anderson of the Whitestown Police Department.  Manuel Navarro of the Whitestown Fire Department was not able to attend the meeting.  However, we had discussed the fire department responsibilities and future planning at a previous meeting.

January 20, 2011 Committee Meeting Canceled

The January 20, 2011 meeting has been canceled due to inclement weather and our desire not to take our requested guests from their respective duties at this time.  The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, February 3, 2011.
